Barry Jameson, world champion triathlete in 2008, started both the walkers’ and runners’ sections of the Challenge. 166 walkers completed the course, 4 had to retire early and 25 people who had booked were not able to attend.
Runners listen to Barry Jameson, just before the start of the first Haltwhistle Challenge Run.
40 runners started the course of whom 2 had to retire early. A special mention goes to Irene Wilson who completed her 99th marathon despite tripping and spraining her left ankle. She was determined to finish.

Prize Draw for all who completed the course
The winner of the prize draw is Teresa Lowery of Stirling
She wins a ViewRanger package of software and Great Britain mapping worth £150 which turns a GPS enabled phone into a fully featured ‘off-road-sat-nav’. It offers far more than a map on a phone because it is a complete outdoor navigator. This was donated by Augmentra Ltd.
ViewRanger is popular for all kinds of outdoor recreational activities – on land, on water and in the air. It is also used and relied upon by outdoor professionals including Search and Rescue teams and field workers. It is a complete outdoor navigator with simple to use GPS interface, trail navigation, a sports computer to log progress, and the BuddyBeacon to locate friends. Routes can be planned directly onto its digital OS maps or annotated trail guides may be accessed from the ViewRanger route library.
Many thanks to Augmentra Ltd., for this kind donation
