Twenty one walkers set out from Cawfields to enjoy the views from the "Back of the Wall" and for the farmhouse tea at Cowburn. A few spots of rain at Herding Crags in the warm south westerly breeze were the only threat to perfect walking weather.
Karen Ballantyne and her team made us very welcome as we tucked into huge plates of sandwiches and cakes washed down with steaming mugs of tea and coffee.
Our concerns of having to climb up onto the Wall near Cawfields Gap after our substantial meal were overcome by views of the magnificient landscape that we had trod a few hours earlier.
