We follow a wooded burn out of Haltwhistle before joining a short section of the Pennine Way and continuing north to open countryside. Here we look back to Hadrian’s Wall above dramatic Cawfield Crags before turning south to cross the Wall and descend to Hallpeat Moss - a well-preserved farmhouse with a traditional stone-slated roof and stock buildings. We continue steadily downhill to rejoin the burn and head back into Haltwhistle.Â
