Walk 7: Killhope Law and the Tea Trail

Start Point: Dirt Pot, Allenheads

Date: April 28, 2026

This walk showcases the wild North Pennines, with its mining heritage, open moors, curlews and lapwings.

After the walk’s highest point at Killhope Law on the Durham / Northumberland border we join Isaac’s Tea Trail, the trading route of tea merchant Isaac Holden about 200 years ago. We leave Isaac’s Trail to descend past the hamlet of Swin Hope across undulating moorland to our start point, with almost no tarmac on our entire route!
