Walk 5: Blanchland Past and Present

Start Point: Blanchland

Date: April 27, 2026

We start in the delightful conservation village of Blanchland and take a route past a couple of tiny hamlets before heading onto the moors along the ancient Carriers’ Way.  This was a bustling area in the heyday of lead mining, with traces of medieval and prehistoric history too.  After a few miles on the open fells, we descend through deciduous woodland back into Blanchland.  After the walk why not enjoy a pint in the village’s medieval Lord Crewe Arms?
