Walk 9: ‘Long Meg and her Daughters’ and Lacy’s Caves

Start Point: Long Meg Car Park

Date: April 29, 2026

It’s a walk full of interest as not only do you see Long Meg, a huge Neolithic stone, but if you count her stone ‘daughters’ and get the same number twice beware, you break the spell, and the witches may return! After passing the solitary St Micheal + All Angels Church, we continue onwards through extensive woodlands and alongside the beautiful river Eden to reach Lacey’s Caves. Our return is alongside the Carlisle - Settle railway.
